Rob Neill was at Braxton’s off and on for 20 years doing everything from running the kitchen to serving to bar tending before deciding to set off on his own. After having a few pops with his friends Penny and Dale Arendt, they decided to use Dale and Penny’s smoker to cook up something special. They wanted to open in August, but with Covid-19, they had to make sure all the precautions were in place to keep their customers safe. Three months later they opened up The Smoking Caboose out at the Maple Leaf Motel to share what they’ve perfected with St. Thomas and Elgin County.
They’ve only been open for 10 days and they couldn’t be happier with the support from the community.
They’re already pulling double shifts just to make sure they can meet the demand.
Rob recommends everyone try out the brisket. It’s the top seller and they keep selling out each week – so get your order in early!
I had the pulled pork on a bun with the baked beans and coleslaw and it was absolutely perfect.
