Mayor’s Update Live with Mayor Joe Preston, Sept 15 2020

Thanks to Joe Preston – Mayor ST.Thomas Ontario for making time each week to chat! If you have a question or comment you want addressed, contact us here or on Facebook!

Today we talked about changing up the street parking on both sides of Confederation Drive.

There may be talks about putting a refrigerated outdoor ice rink in Pinafore Park. What are your thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea?

There was a statement on last week’s video about having handicap parking on Talbot St., which we should mention is in the works and will likely be ready for next year.

Cathy Mcgregor-Smith asked for clarification about the The Horton Farmers Market, because she had heard the city was not supporting it in 2020. Mayor Joe Preston said that was just a rumour and that the city will be supporting the market, but he did mention that having a market plan in place for next year, before next year, would help the city open the market faster if the pandemic does continue on into 2021.

Brad Jones from Your Neighbourhood Needle Network, who has been contracted by the St. Thomas Downtown Development Board to clean up needles, asked for an update on the latest needle clean up news. The City is still in talks with Southwestern Public Health about how to initiate a needle recovery program.

Thanks for watching! We’ll see you next week!
