Clarification on the new COVID-19 Inspections for St. Thomas Businesses from the St Thomas Police Service.

The goals for the new inspections that are being implemented with Southwestern Public Health and the City of St. Thomas, Ontario By-Law Officers are education and safety.

Questions covered:

– The message that was issued by St. Thomas Police Service was received by some merchants as being more threatening than helpful. Our small businesses have had a tough time and are doing an amazing job to comply. Can you reassure our small businesses that you are here to help, not punish?

– Can you explain the process you are following and explain when and how fines will be implemented?

– Will you be publishing a list of the most common violations found?

– Can you sum up your goals for the new measures?
