Mayor's Update – STEAM Barista Competition, Jr. Jumbo Mud Challenge, and More!

Welcome to our weekly series, The Railway City Mayor's Update with Joe Preston – Mayor ST.Thomas Ontario.This week we talked about: The upcoming SCA Canada Barrista Competition on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of September at CASO Station and hosted by Las Chicas Del Café at the CASO Station. The event is FREE to Attend! Visit the Railway City Tourism site, http://www.railwaycitytourism.com/steam for all the details. *Two of our local Barristas, Jess Andrews and Rachael Helm (https://www.instagram.com/afternoonbloom/) are also competing. 4th Annual Big Ball Drop – By Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Thomas-Elgin on Sept 7th at Pleasant Valley Trout Farm, $5 per Ball.The artist's have now completed the murals on the Elgin County Railway Museum boxcars for Railway City Tourism's Boxcar Mural project. You can stop by the museum to see the finished cars. The St Thomas Police Service are having an open house this weekend on Saturday from 1pm-4pm. They will be accepting donations of non perishable food items for the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank during the open house. On September 9th nine bells will ring at City hall to bring awareness to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders thanks to Ethel de la Penotiere's work.
