St. Thomas and District Chamber of Commerce members had a chance to get an early peek at the new St. Thomas Nissan last week during their August Business After 5 event. The Chamber did an excellent job of publicizing the event and packed the venue to welcome the new member.
Store manager Darrin Lester was on hand to greet the business community and talk a little about what the process of opening the dealership was like and his plans for when the dealership officially opens.
Bob Hammersley, President & CEO of the Chamber, formerly welcomed the dealership to the business community and said “The St. Thomas & District Chamber is pleased and proud to welcome yet another new business to our market. We have come to know owner Darrin Lester over the last year as he prepared to launch the new dealership, and we agree with him completely in seeing a great opportunity to invest in our community.”
The United Way Bicycle also made the rounds with Darrin purchasing it for $500. Putting the grand total as of last week – at over $5000. Before that happened though, Bob Hammersley provided the background history on the bicycle and laid the foundation for what is truly becoming a special story in our business community. Watch the video below for all the details.
The United Way Elgin Middlesex Bicycle made the rounds yet again at the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 event that was held last Wednesday at the new St. Thomas Nissan dealership. Darrin Lester, the manager at the new dealership added another $500 to the grand total (Over $5000) the bicycle has raised thus far thanks to Angela DeVries of the The St. Thomas & Elgin Home Builders’ Association donating the bicycle to be auctioned off again after winning it at the Business After 5 event held at Legends Tavern in July. The Chamber's goal is for the bicycle to raise $10,000 by the time it's done it's rounds.

As usual at Business After 5 events, there were also several prizes to be had and a lot of winners. Greg Smith from the Talbot Teen Centre took the grand prize and got to take the 55″ TV home.
Chamber members spent the evening checking out the beautiful new showroom, network with other event attendees and enjoy the food and refreshments.
Darrin also had his impressive collection of personal cars on hand for attendees to view.
