In June, the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus hosted Summerfest, an annual fundraising event, that this year raised $7,000 in support of cancer care at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. The evening was filled with great food, activities and entertainment. Eagles tribute band Hotel California and local favourites Dark Horse were certainly crowd pleasers for the evening.
“This was a family fun event held on father’s day weekend that supported a great cause! Cancer is a disease that has affected everyone in one way or another, and to support a cause while attending a great community event is a win-win situation for everyone,” explains Paul Jenkins, Executive Director, STEGH Foundation. “The Knights of Columbus have been long time supporters of the Hospital and they certainly stepped up to organize a stellar event. We need to thank the Knight of Columbus, the volunteers and guests for their support,” he adds.
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation continues our important work with community partners to raise funds for patient care equipment including a new pharmacy hood, a second digital mammography unit, surgical equipment, and much more. Supporting OUR Hospital is our top priority for many community partners like the Knights of Columbus, and working with good community partners, helps the STEGH Foundation succeed in carrying out our mission of supporting patient care excellence.
“We wanted to celebrate Father’s Day and support OUR Hospital. We thought a unique event like this would bring the community together in support of a great cause, and it certainly did,” explains Steve Bailey, STEGH Foundation Board Member and Knights of Columbus Member. “We are thrilled to have raised $7,000 for cancer care at STEGH. Thank you to everyone who came out to support a very worthy cause.”
